Collection of general information

When you access our website, information of a general nature is automatically collected. This information (server log files) includes, for example, the type of web browser, the operating system used, the domain name of your internet service provider and similar. This is exclusively information that does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person. This information is technically necessary in order to correctly deliver the website content requested by you and is mandatory when using the Internet. Anonymous information of this kind is statistically evaluated by us in order to optimise our Internet presence and the technology behind it.

Contacting us: Collection, processing and use of personal data

Personal data is all information that relates to an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, your name, your telephone number, your address and all other data that you provide to us when you contact us by e-mail or via a contact form. The information you provide when contacting us will be stored for the purpose of processing your enquiry and for possible follow-up questions. The lawfulness of this processing is based on the legitimate interests pursued by the controller, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data. We will treat your personal data with the utmost care, store it securely and not pass it on to third parties.

Use of cookies

Like many other websites, we also use so-called "cookies". Cookies are small text files that are stored on your end device (laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.) when you visit our website. This provides us with certain data such as IP address, browser used and operating system. Cookies cannot be used to start programmes or transfer viruses to a computer. Using the information contained in cookies, we can make navigation easier for you and enable our web pages to be displayed correctly.

Under no circumstances will the data collected by us be passed on to third parties or linked to personal data without your consent. If you allow us to use cookies through your browser settings or consent, the following cookies may be used on our websites: Overview

Insofar as these cookies may affect personal data, we will inform you about this in the following sections.

Of course, you can also view our website without cookies. Internet browsers are regularly set to accept cookies. Please note that individual functions of our website may not work if you have deactivated the use of cookies.

You can delete individual cookies or the entire cookie inventory via your browser settings. You will also receive information and instructions on how to delete these cookies or block their storage in advance. Depending on your browser provider, you will find the necessary information under the following links:

We also use strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are required to provide basic website functions. For example, when setting personal data protection settings, logging in or filling out forms. The user's consent is not required for the use of strictly necessary cookies and their use cannot be deactivated

SSL encryption

In order to protect the security of your personal data during transmission, we use state-of-the-art encryption methods (e.g. SSL) via HTTPS.

Deletion or blocking of the data

We adhere to the principles of data avoidance and data minimisation. We therefore only store your personal data for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes stated here or for the various storage periods stipulated by law. Once the respective purpose no longer applies or these periods have expired, the corresponding data is routinely blocked or deleted in accordance with the statutory provisions.

Use of Google Analytics 4

We use "Google Analytics", a web analysis service from "Google" (Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland and Google, LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; hereinafter: "Google" and "Google Analytics 4") in order to optimise our website to user interests. "Google Analytics 4" uses so-called "cookies", which are stored on your end device for recognition, as well as similar tracking methods for recognising end devices such as tracking pixels, device fingerprinting and programming interfaces (e.g. APIs and SDKs) to process information from your end device. For this purpose, your end device is assigned a randomly generated identification number (cookie ID/device ID). With the help of these technologies, "Google" processes the information generated about the use of our website by your end device as well as access data for the purpose of statistical analysis - e.g. access to a specific website, number of unique visitors, entry and exit pages, length of stay, click, swipe and scroll behaviour, activation of buttons, registration for the newsletter, bounce rate and similar user interactions. For this purpose, it can also be determined whether different end devices belong to you or your household. The access data includes, in particular, the IP address, browser and device information, cookie ID/device ID, the previously visited website and the date and time of the server request. No individual IP addresses are logged or stored in "Google Analytics 4" systems. When the IP address is recorded by Google in special local data centres in the EU, your IP address is used to determine location information. The IP address is then deleted before the access data is stored in a data centre or on a server for "Google Analytics". In "Google Analytics 4", no precise data on the geographical location is provided, but only general location information such as the region and city of the location of the end device, which is derived from the IP address. "Google will process this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for us and, where we indicate otherwise, providing us with other services relating to website activity and internet usage. If you are registered with a Google service, "Google" can assign the website visit to your user account and create and analyse cross-application user profiles. In addition, a cross-platform analysis of user behaviour takes place on websites and apps that use "Google Analytics 4" technologies. This allows user behaviour in different environments to be recorded, measured and compared in the same way. For example, user scroll events are automatically recorded to enable a better understanding of the use of websites and apps. Different cookie IDs/device IDs are used for different end devices for this purpose. We are then provided with anonymised statistics on the use of the various platforms, compiled according to selected criteria. With the help of "Google Analytics 4", target groups are automatically created for specific cookie IDs/device IDs or mobile advertising IDs, which are later used for individualised advertising. Target group criteria include, for example: Users who have viewed products but not added them to a shopping cart or added them to a shopping cart but not completed the purchase OR users who have purchased certain items. A target group comprises at least 100 users. With the help of the "Google Ads" tool, interest-based adverts can then be displayed in search results. Users of websites can also be recognised on other websites within the "Google" advertising network (in Google search, on "YouTube", so-called "Google Ads" or on other websites) and presented with tailored advertisements based on the defined target group criteria. With regard to the storage of and access to information in your end device, the legal basis is Art. 5 para. 3 of the ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC) or the respective implementation in the member states; the legal basis for further processing is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR. "Google" also processes some of the data in the USA. There is no adequacy decision by the EU Commission for data transfer to the USA. So-called standard contractual clauses have been concluded with Google, LLC in order to oblige Google, LLC to an appropriate level of data protection . You can obtain a copy of the standard contractual clauses at https://cloud.google.com/terms/sccs. Your data in connection with "Google Analytics 4" will be deleted after 24 months at the latest. Further information on data protection at "Google" can be found at: http://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy.

You can withdraw your consent to processing at any time by moving the slider in the "Manage cookie settings" of the consent tool for the respective third-party provider. The lawfulness of the processing remains unaffected until the revocation is exercised.

Our website uses the technology of the provider Outbrain with which our users are referred to further content within our website and on third-party websites that may also be of interest to them. This process is used to evaluate the effectiveness of the advertisements for statistical and market research purposes and can help to optimise future advertising measures. These user profiles do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person and are anonymous to us. The display of reading recommendations by Outbrain using cookies takes place on a purely pseudonymised basis. To anonymise the IP address, the last part of the IP address is removed.

As soon as the user performs an action on this website, this is counted as a conversion and Google sets a cookie to mark this action. The cookies have a duration of 30 days and are not used to personally identify the user.

The company "TikTok Technology Limited" (10 Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin, D02 T380 in Ireland) is responsible for the use in Europe. TikTok also processes your data in the USA, among other places. Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) are templates provided by the EU Commission to ensure that your data complies with European data protection standards even if it is transferred to and stored in third countries (such as the USA). With these clauses, TikTok undertakes to comply with the European level of data protection when processing your relevant data, even if the data is stored, processed and managed in the USA. These clauses are based on an implementing decision of the European Commission. The decision and the corresponding standard contractual clauses can be found here, among other places: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dec_impl/2021/914/oj?locale=de

Microsoft Ads (formerly Bing Ads)

We use the tracking functions of "Bing Ads" from Microsoft Corporation (One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA; hereinafter: "Microsoft" and "Microsoft Ads") on our website. Microsoft stores a cookie on the user's device to measure the reach of our adverts and to enable the success of an advert to be attributed to it. The online advertising service "Microsoft Ads" uses technologies such as "cookies", "tracking pixels" and "device fingerprinting" to place adverts that are relevant to users and to improve reports on the effectiveness of campaigns. Information stored on users' end devices is also processed in the process. With the help of "Microsoft Ads", users can be shown interest-based adverts in relation to search results in search engines from "Bing" and "Yahoo". The adverts may also relate to products and services that users have already viewed on our website. For this purpose, the interaction of users on our website is analysed beforehand, e.g. which offers users are interested in, in order to be able to display targeted advertising to users on other pages even after they have visited our website. When users visit our website, "Microsoft Ads" stores a "cookie" on the end device of users. With the help of "cookies" and "tracking pixels", "Microsoft" processes the information generated by the users' end devices about the use of our website and interactions with our website as well as access data, in particular the IP address, browser information, the previously visited website and the date and time of the server request, across all end devices for the purpose of displaying and analysing personalised advertisements. For this purpose, it can also be determined whether different end devices belong to you or your household. In addition, the online advertising service "Microsoft Ads" enables us to measure the reach of our adverts and to allocate the success of an advert. For this purpose, "ad server cookies" are used, which can be used to measure certain parameters for measuring reach, such as the display of adverts, duration of viewing or clicks by users. With regard to the storage of and access to information in your end device, the legal basis is § 25 para. 1 TTDSG; the legal basis for further processing is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR. The storage period is twelve months. "Microsoft" also processes some of the data in the USA. The USA ensures an adequate level of protection for personal data in accordance with the decision of the European Commission of 10 July 2023 on the adequacy of secure and trustworthy data flows between the EU and the USA. However, in the event of improper processing of your data by Microsoft, you are guaranteed all legal remedies, including free, independent dispute resolution through arbitration.

The storage period of the information in the Microsoft Ads cookies is twelve months. Further information on data protection and the storage period for "Microsoft Ads" can be found at: https://about.ads.microsoft.com/de-de/ressourcen/richtlinien/richtlinien-zur-datensicherheit-und-datnschutzerklaerung.

You can withdraw your consent to processing at any time by moving the slider in the "Cookie settings" of the consent tool. This does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until the revocation.

Google Fonts (local)

Google Fonts from Google Inc. are used on this website. The company Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street Dublin 4, Ireland) is responsible for the European legal area. The Google fonts have been integrated locally on this website. This means that no data is retrieved from Google servers. There is also no connection to Google via data transfers or data storage. No data is passed on to Google Fonts at any time, not even passively or in the background.

This data is required to provide the Triple Whale service and to prevent misuse. The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purposes of processing. Further information on data processing by Triple Whale can be found in the provider’s privacy policy at https://www.triplewhale.com/privacy-policy.

Your data may be processed in the USA and transferred there, i.e. to a third country outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA). The legal basis for the data transfer is the adequacy decision with the USA pursuant to Article 45(1) of the GDPR on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Triple Whale has obtained certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and has thereby committed to complying with EU data protection standards. The legal basis for this data processing is your consent, Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
